Rolling Grades

Oct. 8, 2021

Parents/Guardians,

In an effort to continuously support student learning, Adams Central High School made a recommendation to the Adams Central School Board to update our grade reporting procedures to a semester “rolling” grade on Sept. 14, 2021. The Adams Central School Board approved the new grade reporting system.\

All courses/classes at Adams Central High school will now use a “rolling grade” method to calculate semester grades.  A rolling grade may be most easily thought of as a grade that is figured on a semester basis only, without a process of averaging the first nine weeks and the second nine weeks.  When determining grades with this method, the final grade will most accurately represent student learning at the end of the semester and allows for more formative assessment early in the learning process as the student progresses.

Progress reporting for honor rolls, athletic, and co-curricular eligibility will continue to occur at nine-week intervals.

As a reminder, student grades are available online 24/7 through PowerSchool.  To assist parents and students in monitoring class expectations and student performance, you can view course information and assignment through Schoology.  If you need parent access to either of these platforms, please let us know.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Jeff McCullough, Principal
